How treatment works, step by step

1. A complete examination. We check every tooth, your gums, your bite and your jaw joints, and take X-rays and, where needed, impressions and photos. We also ask about your dental history and what you would like to change.
2. Your goals and priorities. We talk about what bothers you most, whether that's pain, chewing, appearance or all three, and what fits your schedule and budget.
3. Your treatment plan. Dr. Avner explains the recommended treatment and alternatives, the order of the phases, the expected timeline and the fees for each phase. You can discuss the plan with him in English, Spanish, Russian or Farsi.
4. Getting healthy first. Pain, infection, active decay and gum disease are treated first, and teeth that can't be saved are removed.
5. Building the foundation. Teeth worth keeping are stabilized with root canal treatment or core build-ups, and implants are placed where teeth are missing. If teeth need to be moved, aligner treatment can happen at this stage.
6. Temporary restorations. In many cases, temporaries let you try the new shape, length and bite before the final work is made, while changes are still easy.
7. Final restorations. Crowns, bridges, veneers, implant restorations or dentures are made and fitted, and the bite is fine-tuned.
8. Protecting the result. Regular checkups and cleanings keep your gums and restorations healthy, and a night guard may be part of the plan if you grind.
